Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP)
If a woman has worked for her employer for at least 26 weeks prior to the 15th week before her baby is due, and has in the 8 weeks prior to the 15th week average earnings of at least the lower earnings limit (£90 per week), she will be entitled to:
- 6 weeks’ pay at 90% of average earnings, and
- 33 weeks’ at the SMP rate of £117.18 per week (or 90% of normal weekly earnings if this is lower)
